Their story
Mary and Hunter met at the University of Arizona. They were both 2 of 13 seniors in the Bobcats Senior Honorary organization where they first became lifelong friends. After college, they both moved to Dallas, Texas. Mary to join Teach For America and Hunter to join the Real Estate Financing Group at Goldman Sachs. They soon started to realize their friendship was more of a forever and began dating. After being in Dallas for a couple of years, Mary moved to New York for her career and Hunter moved to Orange County, CA to start The Curtis Group. Mary and Hunter had been dating long distance from California to New York for almost 7 years (Unfortunately American Airlines declined to sponsor their wedding). In January 2022, Hunter moved to New York City, and after exactly two weeks of living together (and after accepting the amount of clothes and shoes Mary collects) he popped the question on a trip to Telluride Colorado, a place near and dear to Mary!
How he asked
We were on a vacation in Telluride Colorado, a small beautiful mountain town. It was snowing like out of a movie scene all day long. That evening we were headed to our dinner at the New Sheridan (the town’s oldest hotel). I was of course running very behind for dinner, so Hunter wanting to continually ask me when I would be ready was a normal and unsuspecting question. Little did I know what he had planned… on the way to dinner Hunter stopped me in the middle of the main street in town, with the picturesque snow-capped mountains in the backdrop. Right in the snow he gets down on one knee and asks me to spend forever with him. While my hands were frozen from the snow, my heart was on fire and I blurted out an immediate “of course!” We spent the rest of the evening at dinner, calling family and enjoying every moment of the evening!
The Party
We had Undercover Live for our wedding in La Quinta on May 6 and believe me when I say they blew us all away. The music, the vibes and energy could not have been better. We opted to add a saxophone player to the band and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND doing so as it took an already amazing band and made them that much better. George from the band was very responsive and easy to work with throughout the whole process and was willing to go above and beyond to deliver the best possible experience for us. Could not more highly recommend.
