1. Choose a band that knows what music you’re into

And by this we mean choosing a band that clearly speaks to your heart. There are hundreds of bands out there but there are only few that knows your style of music and if you find one, keep that band and don’t ever look back. The problem in the music industry is that you have a lot of live entertainment choices to choose from but once you know which one caters to your reggae taste, you’ll know for sure that you have to book it ASAP.

2. Let the band know if you have a specific reggae play list

Many bands are uncomfortable in giving you the liberty to choose a specific play list but if you make it clear from the very start that you only want reggae music, then an agreement must be forged. Not all wedding bands know how to play reggae music so it’s best to choose one that specializes in this kind of genre. A live entertainment on your wedding is a must so make sure that the band you choose is at ease in playing your requested play list.

3. Give the band the chance to play some of their songs

Remember that the band is not always calculated to play accurately your preferred playlist so give them also the freedom to play the songs they regularly play at weddings. A variety of song choices can also add charm and dynamics to your wedding live entertainment. Let not your live entertainment be constrained and restricted or else it might affect the band’s performance come your wedding day.

4. Ask if the band will provide music between sets

The band will usually take 2-3 breaks so it’s best to ask way in advance if they will provide incidental music so that you’ll have music at hand if they don’t. Usually most bands will provide and supply you I-pod music but they might ask for an additional fee for this. For those who would like to have their own bespoke CD/I-pod playlist, you can just mention it to the band so that they’ll play your songs during their breaks.

5. Ask how long will the band play

Most wedding live entertainment bands play two or three sets throughout the evening. Make sure to ask about how many hours will they play for you so that you’ll know if you’re getting the best deal.

6. Let the band know if you have a special first dance song

Ohh that romantic first dance song must be so special! If you have a preferred first dance song let the band know atleast 3 weeks before the wedding so that they’ll have enough time to prepare and learn the specific song you’d like to play! Songs like Baby I Love Your Way by Big Mountain, Is This Love by Bob Marley & The Wailers, Love You Baby by Barry Biggs, Me Love She by Mad Cobra & Tricia, or Somewhere Over The Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole are the most common reggae music being played on weddings.
