When it comes to a successful beach ceremony for your Orange County wedding, simplicity is the name of the game. An outdoor wedding is one thing, but a beach ceremony can add a few unexpected twists to your big day.
Let’s talk attire. For the ladies, choosing a sleek gown design will be to your advantage. If you’re a bride that’s planning on wearing a veil, understand that you cannot control the wind. A good rule of thumb is THE WIND WILL TAKE WHATEVER IS NOT NAILED DOWN. This includes; hair, veils, trains, programs, rose petals, and toupees. Long hair is best worn in an up-do or at least away from the face. Your photographer will thank you. As far as shoes are concerned, high heels will sink into the sand so opt for flats, sandals or go barefoot. If you do decide to go au natural, just make sure you have some fabric to stand on. Hot feet can bring the program to a screeching halt just as quickly as cold feet!

For the guys, go with light fabrics as opposed to the heavy black wool of a tuxedo. Who wants to be roasting in a penguin suit on the beach? Dress shoes and sand are not friends. Again, sandals or bare feet are definitely in order. If there’s anyone out there having trouble selling their groom-to-be on a beach wedding, just say the words, “NO TUXEDO” and you’ll be in business.
Take care of your guests by keeping your ceremony brief. It’s surprising that such a life-changing event can occur in less than 30 minutes, but it doesn’t really need to be more than that. Another way to ensure your guests are comfortable is to have a basket of flip-flops available for them. Provide cool beverages if your wedding falls on a hot day and make sunscreen available. Did I forget to mention sunscreen earlier??? SUNSCREEN. Avoid paying the photographer that extra fee to do additional photoshopping on your reddening noses.

You’re considering a beach wedding because it’s a little unconventional, but perfectly organic at the same time. It’s no wonder so many Orange County weddings are performed by the sea. Mother Nature will provide the decor and all eyes will be on you. Some believe that the ocean is where we came from and that’s why being near the sea has such a profoundly calming effect on us. It’s the perfect place to stand with your fiance, breathe in the salt air, and say your “I do’s.”
